In our most recent ‘mega-project’, Gowan Lea Timbers was contracted by Calty Constructions (on behalf of Lend Lease) to supply all the hardwood for the massive new feature boardwalk as part of the recent Sunshine Plaza renovations.
This job eclipsed the Noosa Boardwalk as our biggest project to date, with Calty crews working 24/7 at the end to get it finished on time for Easter trading. It was a real test for us and our mill to keep up with them. The finished product is a testament to their project management and carpentry skills and looks great!
Composed of nothing but fabulous unseasoned Spotted Gum and Ironbark from our mill, it was all sourced locally from the Mary Valley and surrounds and treated using non-CCA chemicals at our treatment plant on the Sunshine Coast.
It was also our biggest “Chain of Custody Certified” project by far – which Lend Lease (and many government departments) now increasingly require for their Green Star accreditation. This certification guarantees that the timber supplied was sourced from forests managed in accordance with the strictest codes of practice and consistent with the world’s leading environmental standards.
